EN VADROUILLE A BELFAST

Ceux et celles qui sont abonnés aux aventures de Monsieur tALK sur Instagram sauront que le citron vert a récemment passé trois jours à Belfast. C’était une première pour lui (et pour moi), et je dois dire que nous nous sommes bien amusés, malgré un temps maussade. 

On a jolly to Belfast Those of you boys and girls who follow the adventures of Monsieur tALK on Instagram will know that the lime recently spent three days in Belfast. It was a first for him (and for me), and I have to say that we had a lot of fun, despite the glum weather. 

Après un vol très court et un encore plus court voyage en bus de l’aéroport au centre de Belfast, nous sommes arrivés à l’hôtel Europa, qui a le triste honneur d’avoir été plusieurs fois la cible d’attaques à la bombe durant la période des Troubles. Le temps de déposer mon sac, de prendre un petit café, et nous nous sommes rendus à l’exposition sur le Titanic. 

After a very short flight, and an even shorter trip by bus from the airport to Belfast centre, we arrived at Hotel Europa, which has the dubious honour to have been several times targeted by bomb attacks during the Troubles. Just taking the time to drop my bag, have a coffee, and off we went to the Titanic exhibition. 

Magnifiquement présentée dans un bâtiment construit à l’endroit même où le furent le Titanic et son frère jumeau l’Olympic, l’exposition, bien que triste de par l’histoire qu’elle raconte, est aussi pleine d’informations très intéressantes sur la ville et la région de Belfast. Je ne savais pas, par exemple, que c’était un centre de production de lin. Ne manquez pas non plus de visiter le Nomadic, dernier lien tangible au Titanic. 

Magnificently presented in a building erected exactly on the spot where the Titanic and its sister ship the Olympic were built, the exhibition, although sad because of the story it tells, is also full of very interesting information on the city of Belfast and its general area. I did not know, for example, that it was a centre for the production of linen. Do not also forget to visit the Nomadic, last tangible link to the Titanic.

Le jardin botanique et ses serres, le musée de l’Ulster, où j’ai vu quelques uns des dessins de Léonard de Vinci qui font partie de la collection royale, une hilarante visite guidée de l’opéra et deux superbes dîners ont complété ma visite de cette ville très intéressante, qui n’a pas manqué de me charmer. Alors si je peux me le permettre, je vous offre la bonne ville de Belfast comme recommandation pour un petit voyage ce printemps. 

The botanical garden and its glass houses, the Ulster museum, where I saw some of the da Vinci drawings, borrowed from the royal collection, a hilarious guided tour of the opera house and two superb dinners completed my visit to this very interesting city, which really charmed me. So, if I can be so bold, let me offer you the good city of Belfast as a spring trip recommendantion.
