UNE DECEPTION

Si vous avez vu mon petit message sur les médias sociaux samedi, vous saurez pourquoi je suis déçu. Pas déçu en général, seulement d’avoir dû annuler mon petit séjour en France, prévu pour la semaine prochaine. Je devais partir jeudi, en route pour le sud de la France pour cinq ou six jours, avant de remonter vers mon chez-moi en passant par la Bourgogne. Et tout ça en voiture, sans avoir à trop rentrer en contact avec beaucoup de personnes.

Disappointment If you have seen my little message on social media on Saturday, you will know why I am disappointed. Not disappointed in general, only to have had to cancel my little stay in France, planned for next week. I was going to leave on Thursday, on my way to the south of France for five or six days, before coming back up towards my little home going through Burgundy. And all of this in the car, without having to get too much into contact with a lot of people. 

Bien sûr, j’étais préparé à devoir porter un masque et rester à distance des autres le plus possible, mais c’est en fait l’obligation de respecter une période de quarantaine de deux semaines au retour au bercail qui m’a poussé à abandonner mes plans. Avec beaucoup de travail et des projets pour la rentrée, je ne peux pas me permettre de ne pas pouvoir sortir de chez moi, ou ne voir personne. Alors la seule solution pour moi et de ne pas partir tout de suite. 

Of course, I was prepared to have to wear a mask and stay at a distance from others as much as possible, but in fact it is the obligation to respect a period of quarantine, two weeks upon my return to the nest, which pushed me to abandon my plans. With a lot of work and some projects for the going back to school period, I cannot afford not to be able to get out of my house, or see no-one . So the only solution for me is not to go right now. 

Le miel de lavande, la verveine, et les autres victuailles que je devais rapporter de France devront attendre une autre visite, mais ça n’est pas grave. Ce qui me fait le plus de peine est de pas aller voir ma maman, que je n’ai pas vue depuis un petit moment maintenant. Mais encore une fois, avec un peu de chance, je ne devrai pas attendre trop longtemps avant de lui rendre visite. Et avant d’aller faire un tour dans deux ou trois supermarchés, sans compter quelques visites sur mes marchés préférés. 

The lavender honey, the verbena, and the other treats that I was going to bring back from France will have to wait for another visit, but that’s not that bad. What pains me the most is not going to see my mum, whom I haven’t seen for a little while, now. But again, with a bit of luck, I will not have to wait for too long before paying her a visit. And before going to a couple of supermarkets, without forgetting the visits to my favourite markets. 

Entretemps, je vais pouvoir continuer à dorloter et chouchouter mes élèves, qui ont tous et toutes été très sympa en me disant qu’ils ont été déçus pour moi. Cela dit, ils étaient aussi très contents de pouvoir continuer leurs leçons la semaine prochaine et celle d’après. De plus, même si je ne peux pas vous en dire beaucoup pour l’instant, je travaille en ce moment même sur un beau projet qui demandera pas mal de mon temps et beaucoup de travail. 

In the meantime, I’ll be able to continue taking care of my students, who all have been really nice telling me that there were disappointed for me. That said, they were also very happy to be able to continue their lessons next week and the week after. On top of that, even if I can’t tell you much about it for the moment, I am currently working on a great project that will demand a lot of my time, and a lot of work.

Alors comme vous pouvez le lire, je suis bien sûr un peu déçu de ne pas aller en France cette semaine, mais très content de rester à la maison et continuer à travailler.
