Friday at Harry’s
I have recently spent a very happy Friday at the Harry Potter studios, and I simply HAVE TO tell you all about it. I don’t normally do that sort of thing, as I don’t want to appear to endorse products or advertise others, but I have to say that this visit to the Warner Borthers studios at Leavesden, near London, was extremely well put together and a must-do for all lovers of the world created by J.K. Rowling.
Or rather for all of you out there who love the films based on the novels. The tour does allow you to fully immerse yourself into the magical world of the boy wizzard. Sets, props, magical creatures and costumes, it’s all there, beautifully displayed and with informative explanations about how the films were made.
I particularly loved walking up Diagon Alley, ambling through the Forbidden Forest and greatly admired the art department and the giant Hogwarts model at the end of the tour. You can also walk into 4 Privet Drive, amble along the wonky wooden bridge, and stop in front of the house where Harry got his legendary scar. The giant chest pieces, the Ford Anglia, Hagrid’s sidecar, they’re also all there.
You can of course try butterbeer in the cafeteria, and have your photo taken on a broom in front of a green screen, pretending to fly. One young man, well over 6 foot, was very earnest in following the directions given to him by a virtual master at arms on how to wield his wand in a very interactive tutorial.
It is so easy to lose yourself in this universe, and I must admit that I was very happy to do just that. The displays are fabulous, rich in all things Harry Potter, and I loved learning so much about the films. As you can guess, a return visit is already on the cards…
UN VENDREDI CHEZ HARRY
Je viens de passer un vendredi plein de bonheur aux studios Harry Potter, et je DOIS tout simplement vous en parler. Normalement, je ne fais pas ce genre de chose, vu que je ne veux pas avoir l’air d’endosser des produits ou de faire de la pub à d’autres, mais je dois dire que cette visite aux studios Warner Brothers à Leavesden, près de Londres, était très bien conçue et un incontournable détour pour tous les amoureux du monde créé par J.K. Rowling.
Ou plutôt pour tous ceux d’entre vous qui aiment les films basés sur les romans. La visite vous permetde vous plonger complètement dans le monde magique du petit sorcier. Les décors, les accessoires, les créatures magiques et les costumes, tout est là, superbement mis en place et suivi d’explications très claires qui expliquent comment les films ont été faits.
J’ai tout particulièrement aimé parcourir le Chemin de Traverse, me promener dans la Forêt Interdite et ai vraiment admiré le département artistique et la maquette géante de Poudlard à la fin de la visite. Vous pouvez aussi visiter la maison au numéro 4 , Privet Drive, vous promener le long du pont en bois bancal, et vous arrêter devant la maison où Harry a reçu sa cicatrice légendaire. Les pièces du jeu d’échec, la Ford Anglia, le sidecar de Hagrid, ils sont aussi tous là.
Vous pouvez bien sûr goûter à la Bièraubeurre à la cafétéria, et vous faire prendre en photo à cheval sur un balai devant un écran vert, en faisant semblant de voler. Un jeune homme, grand de plus de deux mètres, suivait assidûment les instructions qu’un maître d’armes virtuel lui donnait, pour lui apprendre à manier sa baguette magique, dans une leçon très interactive.
Il est très facile de vous perdre dans cet univers, et je dois avouer que c’est exactement ce que j’ai fait. L’exposition est fabuleuse, pleine de tout ce qui appartient au monde de Harry Potter, et j’ai adoré apprendre tellement de choses au sujet des films. Comme vous pouvez vous en douter, une autre visite est déjà prévue…
